This Privacy Policy explains how TreadMark ("TreadMark," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our iOS application. TreadMark is a local-first utility for recording wear and maintenance of everyday commuting items.
We designed TreadMark so that your item records, photos, notes, and Points data remain on your device by default. We do not operate a user account server, social feed, or cloud sync service for core App features.

2. Information We Process
2.1 Information You Provide
When you use TreadMark, you may provide:
- Local profile credentials: a generated or saved local username and password used only on your device
- Item details: names, types, wear scores, status labels, notes, and reminders
- Wear records: dates, wear levels, use frequency, marked areas, and associated notes
- Maintenance records: text fix notes and optional voice notes
- Photos: images you capture or import for wear tracking
- Purchase-related activity: Points balance changes and local ledger entries after App Store purchases
2.2 Information Generated by the App
The App may generate locally:
- Wear scores and status summaries based on your inputs
- Timestamps for records and reminders
- File paths and identifiers for stored photos and audio
- Session state such as whether you manually logged out on the device
2.3 Device Permissions
TreadMark requests access only when you initiate a related feature:

If you deny a permission, the App may offer alternative paths such as text-only notes or placeholders, depending on the feature.
TreadMark does not use location, contacts, or advertising tracking permissions for its core functionality.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Provide App features such as item tracking, photo marking, timelines, archiving, reminders, and Points balance display
- Process consumable in-app purchases through Apple and credit Points locally
- Maintain your local profile and App preferences on your device
- Improve reliability and security of the App within the device environment
We do not use your content to build social profiles, public listings, or targeted advertising inside TreadMark.
4. Where Information Is Stored
TreadMark stores data locally on your iPhone, including:
- UserDefaults / local app storage: item lists, wear records, archive data, Points balance, ledger entries, and local login credentials
- App Documents directory: saved wear photos and voice note files created through the App
Because storage is local:
- Your data stays on the device unless you create an iOS backup or migrate devices through Apple's backup/restore process
- Uninstalling the App or deleting App data from iOS Settings may permanently remove your records, photos, voice notes, and Points balance
- We cannot restore deleted local data from our servers because we do not host that data
5. What "Account" Means in TreadMark
TreadMark includes a device-local access profile, not a cloud account.
- Quick Sign In may generate a username and password stored on your device
- Credentials are used to re-enter the App on the same device
- Passwords are stored locally and are not displayed in Settings
- Log Out ends the current session but keeps credentials on the device
- Delete Account removes saved local credentials from the device
Deleting your local account does not automatically erase all item records, photos, voice files, or Points data. To remove that content, delete the App or clear its data through your device settings.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your wear photos, notes, or item history with other users through TreadMark because the App has no social features.
Information may be processed by third parties only in these limited situations:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: to complete in-app purchases, handle billing, and provide platform services under Apple's policies
- Apple iOS: to provide camera, photo library, microphone, and notification capabilities you authorize
- Legal requirements: if we are required to disclose information by valid legal process, and only to the extent required
We do not upload your item records or photos to our own backend as part of the core App design described in this policy.
7. Export and Points Features
If you use Points to export a wear status summary, that export is generated locally on your device. The App does not automatically upload exported summaries to our servers. Any sharing you perform after export happens through actions you take outside the App.
8. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as it remains stored on your device or in your device backup. You control retention by:
- Editing or deleting records inside the App where supported
- Archiving or restoring items
- Logging out or deleting your local account credentials
- Uninstalling the App or clearing App data in iOS Settings
9. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate for a local iOS utility, including storing data within the App sandbox and relying on iOS platform protections. No method of storage is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device with a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or equivalent protections.
10. Children's Privacy
TreadMark is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App in a way that concerns you, contact us through the App Store support channel and we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.
11. International Users
TreadMark is designed for local on-device use. If you use the App outside your home country, your information remains on your device subject to your device settings and applicable local law.
12. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information. Because TreadMark stores data locally, you can exercise many choices directly:
- View and edit item and record information in the App
- Delete your local account credentials in Settings
- Revoke camera, photo, microphone, or notification permissions in iOS Settings
- Remove all App data by uninstalling TreadMark

13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
